B.Sc. Zoology

Introduction

The B.Sc. Zoology program at Smt. Indira Gandhi College provides comprehensive knowledge of the animal kingdom, including structure, function, behavior, evolution, and ecology.

The curriculum blends theoretical instruction, laboratory work, and field studies, encouraging scientific inquiry, environmental responsibility, and practical understanding of biodiversity and animal physiology.Students are trained in both classical zoology and modern biological sciences, preparing them for careers in research, environmental management, and life sciences.

Program Objectives

To impart detailed understanding of animal biology, physiology, taxonomy, and ecology.

To develop practical skills in specimen analysis, dissection, microscopy, and field identification.

To promote awareness of biodiversity conservation and ecosystem balance.

To build research aptitude through project-based learning and fieldwork.

To prepare students for higher studies, competitive exams, and careers in the biological sciences.

Program Outcomes

Graduates of the program will be able to:

Explain fundamental concepts of animal structure, evolution, and classification.

Conduct biological experiments, dissections, and observations accurately.

Apply zoological knowledge in fields such as ecology, fisheries, and wildlife management.

Demonstrate laboratory and data interpretation skills using ethical and scientific principles.

Pursue advanced studies or professional roles in research, teaching, and environmental sectors.
