M.Sc. Zoology

Introduction

The M.Sc. Zoology program at Smt. Indira Gandhi College offers an in-depth understanding of animal biology, focusing on physiology, genetics, ecology, evolution, cell biology, and biotechnology.

It combines classroom learning with research-based practicals, field studies, and dissertation work, preparing students for research, teaching, and careers in life sciences, environment, and health sectors.

Program Objectives

To deepen understanding of animal structure, function, and evolutionary relationships.

To develop advanced laboratory and analytical skills for research in plant science.

To develop research aptitude and laboratory proficiency in zoological techniques.

To foster analytical, experimental, and observational skills in biological research.

To introduce interdisciplinary knowledge of biotechnology, genetics, and ecology.

Program Outcomes

Graduates of the program will be able to:

Demonstrate advanced conceptual and practical knowledge in animal sciences.

Design and conduct experiments using modern biological tools and techniques.

Analyze and interpret biological data with scientific accuracy and ethics.

Apply zoological principles in biodiversity, environmental, and medical research.

Pursue research, teaching, or professional roles in applied life sciences.
