Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Geography

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Geography is a multidisciplinary programme that examines the relationship between people, places and the environment through the study of physical geography, human geography, cartography, surveying, environmental studies, disaster management, remote sensing and GIS. The programme develops analytical, research and spatial skills while enabling students to understand geographical processes, environmental challenges and sustainable development issues at local, national and global levels.

Eligibility Criteria

Admission Requirements

Candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Geography must fulfill the eligibility requirements prescribed by the college and affiliating university.

Minimum Eligibility

  • ✓ Candidates must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized Board.
  • ✓ Students from Arts, Science and Commerce streams are eligible to apply.
  • ✓ Geography may be chosen as a Major/Subject according to university regulations.
  • ✓ Admission shall be granted as per the rules and merit criteria prescribed by the University and the College.
  • ✓ Reservation and relaxation in eligibility shall be applicable as per Government and University norms.

Programme Regulations

Attendance Requirements

  • Students must maintain the minimum attendance prescribed by the University.

Fieldwork & Practical Training

  • Participation in field visits, surveys and geographical investigations is encouraged.
  • Students are expected to maintain accurate field records, maps and project reports.
  • Practical training in cartography, GIS and surveying forms an important component of the programme.

Progression & Completion

  • Students must successfully complete all prescribed theory, practical and project requirements.
